For many years, owning a summer home was seen as a symbol of success. However, a new study indicates that recreational properties are now viewed as a viable entry point into the housing market for many Canadians. According to Conrad Zurini, broker-owner of Remax Escarpment Realty, buyers are increasingly recognizing the potential of these properties.

The study, commissioned by Remax Canada and conducted by Leger, found that 45% of prospective Canadian buyers are planning to purchase a recreational property as their first step into the broader housing market. Among younger Canadians aged 18 to 34, this figure rises to 54%, highlighting a shift in how younger generations perceive homeownership.
Question
What factors are driving the shift in perception of recreational properties among younger buyers?
